As the World Cup of Boxing begins April 20th in Brazil, Max Tomines will be representing Team Canada in the Elite Male 55kg division. He is focused and ready for his run at gold!
This time last year, we were deep in training—preparing for the Provincial and National tournaments, believing it could be the final amateur run before turning pro.
Max went on to dominate Provincials, while working a full-time job, training six days a week, and preparing his body for a new weight class. All while cutting weight and dialing in a completely new diet.
In November 2025, Max stepped onto the national stage in Winnipeg at 55kg, fighting his way to the finals.
With a locked-in mindset, he secured a unanimous decision win. Shortly after, he sent me a text, “National Champ coach. See you soon”. So happy and proud of him.

After earning a bronze medal in Spain this February at one of the world’s top amateur boxing tournaments, Max Tomines now stands on the path toward his ultimate dream of competing on the Olympic stage.
We wish him all the best! Go get ‘em champ!
